12th Annual Empty Bowl Project
Savor one of Bastrop County’s most anticipated events: the 12th annual countywide EMPTY BOWL project on Saturday, Feb.27—from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.—in the Bastrop High School Cafeteria (1614 Chambers St.).
Tickets are $20 per person for all the soup and dessert you want to sample (and your choice of a pottery soup bowl by a local school-age artist); children 12 and under eat free. Enjoy great live entertainment—Max Butler and the Saw Sages--and take part in a silence auction of the works of local artists as well.
Tickets may be purchased at the door or, in advance, at the Pantry (1201 Pine) and online, via PayPal, www.bastropfoodpantry.org.
Bastrop’s Empty Bowl Project is a longstanding partnership among the Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry & Support Center, the Bastrop Independent School District, restaurants and caterers throughout Bastrop County as well as local artists and businesses and members of Extension Education Clubs across Bastrop County.
Proceeds from the event help fund the Pantry’s “emergency food” program, bridging the gap between the basic nutritional needs of many county residents—young, old, individuals, families—and their ability to address these needs on their own. Event proceeds, grants and donations also empower the Pantry’s work inform, counsel, assist and lift the thousands among us living in poverty—one out of every seven Bastrop County residents.
