LYNDA HUMBLE, City Manager
Bastrop, Texas

Lynda Humble will begin her employment with the City of Bastrop on March 13, 2017 as the new City Manager.  For the last 3 1/2 years, Ms. Humble was the Founder and Principal for the consulting practice she created, which specialized in helping local governments to provide great quality of life to their citizens.  She did this by helping organizations understand what is driving their culture and offered solutions to build upon success tailored around the City’s values and purpose focusing on the 4P’s – process, performance, people and passion – always keeping the citizens in mind.  Before this, Ms. Humble was the Interim City Manager for Duncanville, Texas from 2013 – 2015.  She also served as the City Manager for Rowlett from 2009 – 2013 and held various other positions with DeSoto, Cedar Hill and Garland, Texas.

Lynda obtained her Bachelors in Business Administration in 1988, majoring in Accounting, and a Masters in Business Administration in 2003, majoring in Management.  She also received her Certified Public Manager Certification in 2002 from the School of Urban Affairs at the University of Texas at Arlington.

On a more personal note, Lynda and her husband, Travis, are avid Harley riders and look forward to experiencing Bastrop and the beautiful scenery our city and county provides.  They look forward to exploring the backroads and Bastrop.

Mayor’s Comments:
Lynda Humble is an excellent choice for city manager, and I commend the council for working through an excellent process to find and attract her. She has extraordinary management skills and a commitment to coaching employees to whom she will delegate appropriately. She has a strong desire to offer "servant leadership" by which she will make sure all involved in city government understand that the 8,000 citizens of Bastrop must be taken care of well. Lynda is experienced at managing cities larger than Bastrop and will therefore help us succeed as we meet the rapid growth that will continue for the foreseeable future. She is intelligent, highly educated, articulate, and pleasant. Finally, she is not just taking a job, she and her husband, Travis, are very excited about living in a wonderful, unique community, which they have already begun to love.
