The Bastrop YMCA, Bastrop Ministerial Alliance and the City of Bastrop- Parks & Recreation, Public Library, Police Department and Main Street Program have teamed up again to bring the Trick or Treat Trail to the downtown district. The annual Halloween event will provide opportunities for thousands of children to trick or treat, enjoy carnival games and activities, dress in their Halloween best and much more. “We are so excited to be able to continue the tradition of providing a family friendly Halloween event in downtown Bastrop,” said Terry Moore, executive Director of the Bastrop YMCA. It is great for a group like this to come together for the children of our community, we are excited to be able to partner with the City of Bastrop Parks Department, Bastrop Public Library, the Bastrop Main Street Program and the Ministerial Alliance to create this new event, that is sure to be a hit,” said Moore.

Trick or Treat Trail is set for Tuesday, October 31st from 5 to 8 p.m. This year’s event will be bigger and better than last year. The Trail will feature activities at the Bastrop Public Library and the Museum and Visitor Center, encouraging attendees to start their festivities at either end of downtown.  Activities will be located along the Riverwalk trail and in Fisherman’s Park.  Once again, the Ministerial Alliance will feature a variety of children’s activities in the park.  The popular hayride sponsored by the Bastrop Fire Department is scheduled to return as well. Organizers are also lining up an evening full of entertainment in Fisherman’s Park.  Attendees will have the opportunity to trick or treat with numerous Bastrop Businesses along the trail and end the evening in Fisherman’s Park.  “To make this event a success, organizers rely heavily on our local business community and the many organizations in town who participate,” said Main Street Director Sarah O’Brien. “This is a great opportunity to showcase your business or the work your organization does to thousands of attendees. We simply couldn’t do it without the countless vendors who provide candy, games and activities for our children to enjoy,” said O’Brien.

Ample parking is available for attendees in historic downtown Bastrop at any of the public parking lots. If you are interested in being a vendor at this event, you may download a vendor form online at www.bastropdowntown.com.
