Bastrop Chamber of Commerce Announces Launch of New Website
Bastrop, Texas (October 12, 2022) – The Governmental Affairs committee of the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce, along with Board of Directors and staff are proud to announce the launch of our newly redesigned website. The website features new imagery, optimized layout for mobile users, designed for easy navigation and better access to essential information about candidates running in upcoming elections in Bastrop County.
“The Chamber is thrilled to update this website from wix to wordpress. It is the first redesign since the launch of the original website on January 1, 2016 and the new platform will greatly increase our SEO. We are thankful for members like UX WEB GUY L.C. for this upgrade and providing this service Pro Bono for the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce.” said Becki Womble, Bastrop Chamber President and CEO.
Advocacy is of utmost importance to the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber represent nearly 800 members and 10,000 jobs in Bastrop County. Chambers of Commerce have authority under state and federal law to represent our members in public policy debates. We may lobby and take positions on actual or proposed legislation. Chambers may legally endorse candidates for public office and/or ballot propositions. The Bastrop Chamber of Commerce has historically not endorsed political candidates and will not be using this website to do so.
The purpose of this website is to Promote the Vote in Bastrop County! The Chamber does this in three ways: 1.) actively register citizens to vote, 2.) conduct candidate forums so citizens can see and hear from candidates themselves, and lastly 3.) be a resource for fair, impartial, and informative information about the candidates seeking elected office.
Kristi Lee, Chair of the Governmental Affairs committee, said, “A Chamber that is actively engaged in civics and democracy is a valuable asset to our community, and that describes the Bastrop Chamber. This is an amazing service they are providing for the citizens of Bastrop County.”
