I personally find it such an honor to be the executive director of this historic theatre we call the Bastrop Opera House.  Recently, due to the pandemic, it seems live theatre has been an endangered art form for so many theatres across the world.  Yet, the Bastrop Opera House has managed to come out of it stronger, and I thank our community and their love for our community theatre for making that happen.  As the director of Little Shop of Horrors, which received several awards, I was privileged to work with amazing talent, from every cast member, to every musician and all the tech and crew.  They all shined!” exclaimed Lisa Holcomb, BOH Executive Director.
Kelsey Helton gasped so loud when she read she had won, her husband nearly swerved off the road!  Kelsey won 1st place for her performance in the Valentine’s Day Cabaret for Best Cabaret/Concert/Solo Performance.  She went on to say, “Winning was the icing on the cake. I have been afforded incredible opportunities through the Bastrop Opera House, for which I am eternally grateful. The BOH is where I met my husband, Jacob. So I guess you could say, I owe them one. Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote. Now, let's celebrate!”
Dustin Bartee who won 1st place as Best Supporting Actor in Little Shop of Horrors, played the dentist in the show, “I am very excited and grateful to receive this honor!  Sincere thanks to all who voted and continue to support live theater, particularly over these last few years.  Big congratulations to the entire cast and crew of Little Shop of Horrors, especially our outstanding director Lisa Holcomb. It was a joy to play Orin Scrivello, DDS. - jacket, pants, hair, drill, gas...all of it, really. My life, my family, and our community is enormously better because of the Bastrop Opera House.”
Another first place award went to Mike Farenthold, BOH Technical Director, for Best Sound Design of a Play or Musical for Little Shop of Horrors. Mike said, “Jason Farley, another member of the Tech Crew, and I just want to make each show the best they can be.”
