BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: Bastrop County Cares (BCC) is seeking an energetic and community-driven Sports
and Recreation Coordinator to help lead and implement engaging physical activity programs across Bastrop County and
surrounding areas. The Coordinator will assist the Sports and Recreation Manager in operating the Mobile Recreation
Unit, facilitating recreational activities, developing lesson plans, and supervising a team of Recreation Squad/Interns.
This role is essential to promoting health, wellness, and fun in underserved areas through mobile outreach.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position is grant funded.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
●Assist with the setup, breakdown, and daily operation of the Mobile Recreation Unit at various sites across Bastrop
County and surrounding areas.
●Facilitate sports, fitness, and recreational activities for children, youth, and families in parks, schools, neighborhoods,
and community events.
●Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants.
●Develop structured lesson plans and schedules for physical and recreational activities.
●Adapt programming to meet the needs of different ages, abilities, and group sizes.
●Incorporate wellness, teamwork, and social-emotional learning into all activities.
●Provide leadership, training, and supervision to Rec Squad/Interns.
●Support interns in developing skills related to youth engagement, recreation leadership, and event logistics.
●Monitor Rec Squad/intern performance and provide ongoing feedback and guidance.
●Work closely with the Sports and Recreation Manager to plan weekly schedules, maintain equipment and supplies,
and ensure smooth program operations.
●Assist with tracking attendance, gathering participant feedback, and documenting outcomes.
●Represent BCC positively at all program sites and build relationships with partners, community members, and
families.
Qualifications:
●High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in recreation, sports, physical education,
youth development, or related to the athletic field preferred.
●1–2 years of experience working in youth programming, sports, recreation, or community engagement.
●Strong leadership skills and experience supervising youth or volunteers preferred.
Ability to plan and facilitate recreational activities with diverse age groups.
●Valid Texas driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly within the county.
●Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
●CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
●Able to lift up to 100 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Working Conditions:
●Primarily field-based across Bastrop County with frequent outdoor work.
●Occasional evenings and weekends based on community programming needs.
Salary and Benefits: A background check is required and is paid for by the employer.

time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device.
●The employee frequently is required to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.
●The employee must occasionally lift/move equipment of 100 pounds or more.
●The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
●This position requires frequent outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and light
rain.
●Must be able to stand, walk, run, bend, and lift for extended periods while facilitating activities.
●Will regularly lift and transport heavy equipment to and from the Mobile Recreation Unit.
●Frequent county-wide travel using a BCC vehicle or personal transportation (mileage reimbursement available).
●Evening and weekend hours to support community events and programs.
●Exposure to noise, dust, dirt, mud, and outdoor allergens may occur depending on location and activity.
●Must be comfortable working in public spaces, including parks, school grounds, and event sites with children, youth,
and families.
