Pop-Up Bastrop/Summer in the City
WHO: Building Bastrop and the City of Bastrop Main Street Program
WHAT: The Building Bastrop Pop-Up event will transform eight blocks of the historic Main Street in Bastrop to preview the new streetscape including extended sidewalks, enhanced landscaping, sidewalk cafes and public art. The Bastrop Main Street Program is partnering with the Building Bastrop to present Summer in the City and showcase how the community will be able to use the new space. The event will feature family-friendly activities such as live music, face painting, a bounce house, a scavenger hunt, food trucks, farmer’s market vendors, prizes and more.
Locals will also have a chance to offer input on they’d like to see for the future Main Street Rehabilitation Project. Building Bastrop will set up a pop-up Education Center at The Hub for attendees to learn more about the program, as well as two Dreaming of Bastrop chalkboard areas and four comment card stations to provide feedback.

WHY: To illustrate future developments in Bastrop and how Downtown Bastrop can be activated with vendors and activities as a result of the updated land-use regulations. The new regulations will be adopted this fall through the Building Bastrop initiative. The City of Bastrop has allocated $1.9 million for the Main Street rehabilitation project. The Summer in the City Pop-Up event will be the first opportunity to see how that project will come to life. For more information on the project visit cityofbastrop.org/buildingbastrop.
