Bird Lover Weekend
Come to Historic Downtown Bastrop May 7-8 for our BIRD LOVER WEEKEND! We’re honoring World Migratory Bird Day and the return of our First Friday MAIN EVENT. With exciting events like Beer & Bird Calls, live raptor demonstrations, face painting, a bird hat contest and more - there's something for everyone to enjoy!

FRI 5pm-7pm - BEER & BIRD CALLS at 602 Brewing Company, 919 Main St. ~~ Enjoy some craft beer while hearing and learning to identify different bird calls.
FRI 6pm-9pm – MAIN EVENT FIRST FRIDAY ART WALK hosted by various Main Street Merchants. ~~ See MAIN EVENT image for artists and locations.
SAT 10am-2pm – BIRD OF BASTROP SIDEWALK CHALK ART at the sidewalks in front of Community Gardens (next to The Lumberyard 1109 Main). ~~ Come by, grab some chalk, and draw your best version of our favorite bird!
SAT 11am-1pm – BIRD ART TALK & GROUP ART SHOW at Lost Pines Art Center, 1204 Chestnut. ~~ Enjoy insights into “bird art” and take a look at a group art show featuring birds by local artists.
SAT 12-3pm – BIRD FACE PAINTING in front of Locke Drug Store, 1005 Main St. ~~ What's that on your face? You'll never know if you don't stop by to get painted up. And it's free!
SAT 1pm-3pm – LIVE RAPTOR DEMO at Bastrop County Courthouse Square, 804 Pecan St. near the Gazebo. ~~ See a bird handler who specializes in raptors (eagles, kites, falcons & owls) put one through its paces!
SAT 2pm-5pm – TEMPORARY BIRD TATTOOS between 922-924-926 Main St (sidewalks). ~~ Show your avian spirit by sporting a bird tattoo. They're temporary, so even Grandma can get one. Heck, get two!
SAT 3pm-4pm – OUTRAGEOUS BIRD HAT SHOW & CONTEST at 602 Brewing Company, 919 Main. ~~ Check out bird-themed head gear contestants come up with & vote for your fave. Or just watch the fun while sipping on a cool drink.
SAT 3pm-6pm – DIY EASY BIRD FEEDER at Base Camp Deli Outdoor Area, 711 Pine St. ~~ Get instruction on how to make - and take home - your own bird feeder! Everything is provided, you just need to show up.
