Toy Drive for Children of Active Duty Soldiers
Gifts/Donations Collected: November 1 - November 29
Bastrop Parade (donate in person): December 9th
Gifts Delivered to Families: Friday, December 15th
It is a well-known fact that many newly enlisted soldiers in the United States, despite their dedication and commitment to serving our country, often find themselves living at or below the poverty line. The sacrifices they make for our nation sometimes mean that their families struggle to make ends meet. Among those affected most profoundly are their children, who often miss out on the joys of childhood, including something as simple yet meaningful as receiving a toy during the holiday season.
Last year, with the generosity and kindness of individuals like you, we were able to bring smiles to the faces of 36 military families at Fort Cavazos (formerly Ft. Hood) by providing toys for their children during the holiday season. This year, we have set our sights even higher and aspire to sponsor over 100 families in need and deliver toys in person on Friday, December 15th.
The Texas Classic Custom Homes team has graciously offered to purchase and wrap all the gifts, ensuring that every donation goes directly toward bringing joy and hope to these deserving families. But we can't do it alone – we need your help.
We are reaching out to individuals, businesses, and community organizations to ask for support in making this year's campaign a resounding success. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will go a long way in brightening the lives of these children and providing some relief to their dedicated parents.
In addition to monetary contributions, we are also seeking volunteers who can spare their time to help us with gift wrapping, distribution, and other tasks to ensure that every child at Fort Cavazos (formerly Ft. Hood) receives a gift that warms their hearts. If you or your business would like to host an office, church, or organization toy drive and put a box out for unwrapped children’s gifts, please contact us so we can coordinate pick-ups.
Your support will not only bring happiness to these children but will also serve as a reminder to our soldiers that their sacrifices are appreciated, and their community stands behind them. We will also be gathering donations at the annual Lost Pines Christmas Parade through Downtown Bastrop on December 9th so bring a toy or cash and drop it off in our wagon as we pass by in the parade.
If you would like to make a donation you can do so via Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, Check, Cash, or Credit Card: please contact Philip Ozorkiewicz at 512-961-6116 or at philip@tcch.us. If you want to sponsor a donation site or volunteer your time, please reach out to Linda Griesenbeck at linda.classicrock@gmail.com or 512-750-7626.
Together, we can make this holiday season a special one for the families of Fort Cavazos (formerly Ft. Hood) newly enlisted soldiers. Let us unite in the spirit of giving and gratitude.
