Open Museum Meeting: where former residents could come back to Bastrop was put into action in 1948. For its planned quarterly meeting, presents ‘Coming Home to Bastrop, 1948 to Today’
Historical Society Celebrates Bastrop’s Homecoming Jubilee with Open Meeting During post-World War II, Bastrop was in crisis. With the closing of Camp Swift, a major Army training base during the war, the county of Bastrop plunged into economic doldrums. The idea for a big homecoming celebration where former residents could come back to Bastrop was put into action in 1948.
For its planned quarterly meeting, The Bastrop County Historical Society (BCHS) presents ‘Coming Home to Bastrop, 1948 to Today’. It is a special dedication to the history of the Bastrop Homecoming Jubilee.
