BASTROP COUNTY EMERGENCY SERVICES DISTRICT #3

Bastrop, TX (November 8, 2024) — Prior to the November 5, 2024, General Election, the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors passed a resolution in support of the establishment of the Bastrop County Emergency Services District #3.  69% of registered voters in Bastrop County voted in support of this initiative.

“The safety and well-being of residents in Bastrop County are of paramount importance, and emergencies such as medical crises and natural disasters require prompt and effective response for the protection of lives and property,” said Becki Womble, President and CEO of the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce. “Emergency Services District #3 will enable the provision of essential emergency services and disaster response.”
“We recognize the critical need for enhanced emergency response capabilities to ensure the safety and security of our residents,” said Jace Jones, Chairman of the Board of Directors.  “We pledge our commitment to collaborate with stakeholders, including local authorities, emergency service providers, and community members, to ensure the successful establishment and operation of the ESD.”

Bastrop County First Responder volunteer Preston McGrew, one of the three people who spearheaded the campaign for ESD No. 3, said the process to begin implementing the initiative should take between 12-18 months.
