Bastrop Regional Chamber Adopts Resolution
Supporting Adequate Funding for Bastrop ISD
BASTROP, Texas — September 22, 2026 — The Bastrop Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has adopted a resolution affirming its support for adequately and sustainably funding Bastrop Independent School District and recognizing the connection between strong public schools, workforce development, and the region’s long-term economic strength.
The resolution addresses BISD’s November 3, 2026, Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE), which seeks voter approval for three additional Tier 2 “golden pennies.” BISD estimates the measure would generate approximately $6 million annually, including about $2.4 million locally and $3.6 million in additional state funding.
The Chamber encourages members of the business community and all eligible voters to become informed about the VATRE, consider the importance of adequate school funding to the future workforce and economic strength of the region, and participate in the November election.
